This is how one mans idea turned into a huge online success.
It all started in 1998 with a man named Alan Friedman.
Alan was working a successful career and had just purchased a 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet. He loved his new car but felt a part of it was letting it down. The overall look seemed to be ruined by side repeater lenses that didn’t suit the overall look of the car. At the time he struggled to find anything online to get the look he wanted. This is when Alan had his idea to make a side repeater lens that looked the part and decided to create a prototype using some other lenses he had laying around and liked what he had created. Alan knew someone who had just started up a plastic injection company and decided to have his idea become reality and have the repeater lenses made up to use on his car.
The First Move Forward
Moving on a couple of years and after hearing a lot of people positively comment on his new repeaters Alan knew he had discovered a niche in the market. He decided to leave his career and try his luck with his idea. He had his friend produce more for him and soon began selling them at trade shows all across the UK. People seemed to be very interested so he continued to make more. This small idea then exploded into something even bigger and soon Alan was selling bulbs and wiper blades and his stock took over his whole house. It was then Alan knew that he was onto something big.
The Start Of Success
Onwards to 2003 and after spending a few years selling bits here and there on eBay Alan knew it was time to grow his idea even further. He rented an empty warehouse unit and started to fill it with his own product and other car parts from suppliers he'd been able to contact through his online presence and trade shows. He then began to hire staff to help keep up with the demand from his new venture.
The Bigger Picture
Fast forward to 2012 and demand grew. Alan acquired a wider catalogue of car parts and accessories and was soon renting four warehouse units and had employed 21 staff to help keep up with the sales demands.
This is how Aceparts was born from a simple idea into a huge company with sales of £20,000+ daily by providing quality car parts across the UK and also other parts of the world through eBay, Amazon and the newly created in 2015 online store.
The success of Aceparts continued to grow and grow and a company by the name of Vertu Motors plc began to notice and realise the potential of the company and its staff to grow even bigger than they'd imagined.
On December 1st 2015 Vertu acquired Aceparts with a vision to expand and grow beyond anything Alan had envisioned. Now under the Vertu name Aceparts can only grow bigger and bigger.
Vertu was formed in late 2006 to acquire and consolidate UK motor retail businesses. It was founded as a new entrant into the UK motor retail sector.
The Vertu Motors group operates a nationwide chain of franchised motor dealerships offering sale, servicing, parts and bodyshop facilities for new and used cars and commercial vehicles.
The group operates many of its dealerships as Bristol Street Motors who originated nearly 100 years ago as a single Ford dealership located on Bristol Street in central Birmingham.
Since those early days the business has grown to become one of the largest automotive retail brands in the UK.
This is an exciting development in the car parts industry and everyone at Aceparts is looking to an amazing future with Vertu behind them.
